Following Donald Trump’s presidential victory, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have urged democrats to “give Trump a chance to lead” despite sentiments of disappointment and anger.
During her concession speech, Clinton remained composed, stating “This is painful, and it will be for a long time…[But] we owe him an open mind and a chance to lead.”
Trump’s victory comes as a shock to most for it exposed the rigid divisions still prevalent in American society. Following Clinton’s speech, President Obama reassured Democratic supporters that the transition of power will remain peaceful. He stated, ““Now, everybody is sad when their side loses an election, but the day after we have to remember that we’re actually all on one team.”
