With the ongoing water crisis in Flint, Michigan many athletes and stars have stepped in to help with the donation of water bottles to the city. The latest star to come to the rescue is Beyoncé, who after the debut of her “Formation” music video and performance at the Super Bowl, has announced an outreach project that will bring more help to the crisis.

Beyonce’s #BeyGOOD project is teaming up with the Genesee County chapter of United Way to collect donations of clean water, better filtration systems, and other supplies for families in the Flint area. On top of that she will team with the Community Foundation of Greater Flint to create a long-term fund for the children of Flint for the future.

On January 16, 2016 President Obama declared a state of emergency for Flint due to the contaminated water filled with lead and bacteria that could affect potentially 6,000 to 12,000 children. According to MSNBC reports as of 2013 41.5% of residents live below the poverty line, with nearly 60% being African-American.
